(CAN'T PLAY THE) BLUES
BLUES
Sometimes I get requests:
"Hey buddy, could you play us some Blues?"
Sometimes the guests ask:
"Come on man, how about some Blues?"
I have to tell them "No, I'm sorry.
It's just a style I never quite
never quite
never quite learned to use."
Just don't do the blues.
Walkin round town, gettin asked:
"Hey mister, could you spare a dime?" (all the time)
Just walkin round they hound you:
"Hey, how 'bout that dime, if you don't mind?"
I have to tell them "Well, I'm sorry
But I simply have not had
have not had
one for some time."
Now ain't that a crime?
This woman heard me playing,
Something that was sorta like the Blues.
Very very pretty woman heard me pre-
tending I could sing the Blues.
Said, "It ain't you don't got rhythm.
It's just a style you never quite
never quite
never quite learned to use.
It just ain't the Blues."
(Hey man, that could give a guy The Bues.)
