ON THE WAY
I've had some time alone, I'm on the road for home
Back to my woman and my work and play
It's great just being out here on the road like this today
Being on my way, don't care when I get there,
Just as long as I am on my way.
And here I am again, back home to wife and friends
Back to the job so I can serve and slave
But that's okay, cause I want to anyway
You know, it don't really matter where you go
Just as long as you are on your way.
Just like the girl I loved too much to keep,
So much that I had to go again
I did not know the way to make my dreams come true
Then the time when I came back to find that I had always been
--always, sorta-- on my way to you.
And here we are, my friend, up on that road again
It could be never-ending, but I could not say
Cause we don't even know where we are going anyway.
I guess it doesn't really matter HOW we get there
Just as long as we are on the way.
